Does the Pod require Planning Permission?

Our pods have been designed to meet planning policy ‘permitted development’ and therefore in most cases will not require planning permission. In certain circumstances however such as if you live in a national park / AONB or your pod exceeds over 50% of your garden area then it is likely you will require planning consent. Pod space are happy to consult with your planning authority and apply for planning permission on your behalf should it be required.

What are the advantages of the pod over a traditional extension?

Your pod is detached so whether you use it as a living or working space it provides the flexibility of being separate from your home. Of course they cost less than an extension and you will pay one pre-determined price so there are no unexpected additions once you have agreed the specification. It will be installed on site within just a few days so you can avoid the mess and disruption of a traditional extension.

What sizes are the Pods available in?

Our standard Pod sizes are 2m x 2.5m, 3.2m x 2.5m, 4.1m x 3.65m, 5.45m x 3.65m and 7.2m x 3.5m. Any of these can be modified to your exact requirements.

Can the Pods be customized to my requirements?

All our pods can be customized to your individual requirements and could include shower rooms, w.c’s, compact kitchens and storage areas. We’re experienced at incorporating environmentally responsible materials and new technologies and can work with you to include green ideas and solutions of your choice. If you want something completely different the pod space experienced design team are happy to discuss your requirements.

Will my pod require foundations?

Typically, your pod will sit on concealed galvanised steel subframe on precast concrete pad stones on compacted crushed stone. This will have minimal impact on your garden should you choose to relocate your pod at a later date.

Can the pod be relocated if I move house?

Pods can be craned in and out as a complete unit dependent on the size of Pod and on suitability of access to the site. Alternatively we may be able to design your Pod to be re-located in pre-fabricated panels.

How long will you need access to our garden?

This is entirely dependent on the size of the Pod and whether we can deliver as a complete unit or site installation of pre-fabricated panels. We will always aim to undertake as much work as possible off site to reduce the time required and impact on your garden. We will typically be on site between 2 days and 3 weeks.

Is my pod guaranteed?

All our buildings are designed and engineered to exceed current building regulations. For your assurance your pod will come with a 5 year guarantee as standard. Fixtures and fittings are guaranteed for 12 months or for the manufacturers warranty. Correctly maintained, your pod should last with minimal maintenance for several decades.

Can you supply services to my pod?

It is usually possible to link up water, electricity, BT, and drainage. We will arrange a site survey prior to delivery of your pod and provide you with a fixed price for installation of services.

When will I get my pod?

Unless your pod requires planning permission (most don’t) it can typically be fully installed and ready to use within 12 weeks.
