Anatomy Of A Green Pod.

We have designed and constructed our pods to be highly efficient with insulation levels equal to modern houses. The low energy products and high levels of insulation mean that energy costs can also be kept to a minimum in your pod.

The external walls are 240mm thick, incorporating vented cavities and the latest technology in waterproof membranes to prevent cold bridging. Externally they are clad with Canadian red cedar and contemporary dark grey cladding panels which complement the dark grey windows and doors.

The insulation levels in the floor are consistent with the rest of the building and use waterproof membranes and vapour barriers. The windows and doors that we use as standard are Scandinavian with high efficiency sealed unit dual pane low-E glass. The option of folding sliding doors uses a high performance thermally broken slimline frame. Both options are powder coated to the same colour as the windows.

Further environmental benefits can be gained from the use of a timber louver which the user can slide to the desired location in front of the doors / windows. This offers solar shading so can reduces the need for cooling devices.

As you would expect the internal finish on a pod offers no compromise. The standard is a premium grade white beech veneered panel but traditional plaster is also available.
