A little home away from home may seem like the kind of place you’d buy in the Lake District or a quaint Welsh village, but more folks than ever are investing in garden buildings as their sanctuary and extra bit of space.
With the housing market still stagnating away in the U.K economy, clever homeowners are looking to make the most of the space they already own. We speak to lots of clients from the entire property spectrum, and one thing they all have in common is a desire to utilise space efficiently. After all, who needs a huge garden partnered with a property that’s too small!
The Perfect Reading Nook
Lots of our garden rooms are installed to meet tailored needs. Things like pet rooms, play rooms and music rooms etc are the most common vague reasons for installing. But there’s one sector you won’t find vague – the avid readers. The perfect reading nook is a sacred space to literature fans. Ask any of our happy clients about how much they love their reading home away from home and you’ll likely be greeted with a series of peaceful grins and swoons!
The Guest Room
Eco homes like the Eco Pod make the perfect guest space. We don’t always have a nice spare room to put up the in-laws or the entire family of a visiting friend. A little clever use of outdoor space can be exceptionally beneficial in safeguarding privacy on both sides and making the entire process of having guests less of a hassle.
Creating a nurturing and safe home for our pets is important to all animal lovers. Here in the Pod Space studio we’re split 50/50 as dog-lovers and cat-fanatics! It’s not just garden offices and studios we create. Our garden buildings can be put to any use you please, and more recently we discovered a lovely trend for building pet havens in the garden using similar products to the Pod Space range.
Eco homes are about more than just solar panels and recycling. They’re about using your knowledge to foster a lifestyle that limits the impact of you, your pets and those around on the earth, thereby safeguarding it for future generations.
So, what are the benefits of building a garden room just for Fido or Kitty? According to the RSPCA, most pets thrive with a little of their own space. Cats are lone rangers, and although they’d follow you into war, dogs sometimes need a little alone time too!
Using our pods to build a tailored pet paradise means your companion will always have a warm, private area to call their own. We find this can be most beneficial to pets in very busy homes.
Cats, for example, can be very grumpy around strangers. For the self-employed person working from home, a cat garden room can remove the trepidation Kitty associates with the crowded house. Safety is another key issue. For folks with clients or visitors coming and going, keeping tabs on pets can fall off the radar.
A massive part of what we do is about communicating to our clients all the brilliant ways our pods can be of use. Of course, there are the usual suspects – the home office, garden studios etc – but there are scores of brilliant ways you can make exceptionally good use of your pod.
Study Area
It’s not only mum and her home office that can find solace in our garden buildings. A huge proportion of the U.K’s students would give their smartphones for a quiet, facilitated space to study. Take the Micro Pod, for example, as a great example of how easy and compact a study space can be. Although just 2.5 x 2.0m, the Micro Pod is designed to fit seamlessly into even the compact garden or yard space. No noisy siblings, no TV, no distractions! Just calm study time in a peaceful environment tailored to dedicated work and concentration.
Play Room
To some it might seem a little drastic to build garden rooms specifically for children’s play. But in busy homes such as those of the self-employed professional, taking the lion’s share of play outside and into a sanctioned, tailored space can be incredibly beneficial for all involved. Children are very sensitive to environmental changes, and although they’re only young, most children find value in personal space like a play room. The Mini Pod is exceptionally suited to the playful life of children, featuring sliding doors that open to merge the playroom and garden as one.
Here at Pod-space, we believe that a quality garden studio should not have to cost the earth. With global warming ever becoming more and more in the news, every little thing that we do can help. Although it sometimes may seem like an unwinnable war, every small thing we do to help the planet benefits greatly. So, if you believe in preserving Mother Nature, or just want a quality garden studio, let us explain how we make our garden offices eco-friendly.
We take great pride in making sure that all of our materials come from responsibly sourced places, and we use recycled, reformed, and sustainable sources throughout our building. The whole pod focuses around the concept of being eco-friendly, and this is plain to see. Every pod is made with a highly insulated wooden and steel frame. The external walls are constructed by a thick composite, similar to that found in modern buildings. These give cavities that help to keep the pod insulated. All floors are also made from good quality composite materials, and are fully weather proof, even from the rain of Britain. These have actually been found to be more efficient than modern homes. Heating comes from a standard slim line contemporary heater, giving great efficiency. As an additional extra, under floor heating is also available, which has been proven over the years to be far more efficient than standard radiators.
This concept of eco-friendliness is seen throughout the garden rooms, but for more information, please refer to the ‘specification’ point on our website.
A new range of garden studios are becoming readily available to purchase. We already know how effective these garden offices are in not only boosting the value of your home, but also at creating an extra special living space for the owner. Many people look at these eco-friendly out buildings, and struggle to choose exactly what type of room they would like it to be. However, the most productive and sometimes essential idea for one of these fantastic eco-friendly garden studios is for them to be used as a home-office.
If you are self employed, or work from home, a garden studio could be perfect for you as an office. We have all tried to work from home at one point or another, but with the distractions around the house, procrastination seems to be a killer for work ethic! There are always some dishes that need washing, some ironing to be done, or that television that just must be watched! Well, with an eco friendly garden office, you can feel like you are going to work within the comfort of your own home. With many contemporary designs available, you could convert your garden studio into an office! Install some bookcases, a desk, a computer, maybe a few plants, and before you know it you will have your own little work place! With no distractions from any children, your partner (not in a bad way!), any pets, and day to day happenings, a garden studio could be the perfect harmony for you to work.
